Who knows what kind of political vice Durham finds himself in?

I don't know that any of this is his choice.

The bottom line - the good subjects of Trumpistan screamed for years about the length of time it was taking to complete the Mueller investigation. They started bitching about that almost immediately. It was done in 2 years, give or take, and that was that. Lots of wrangling over conclusions, lots of false Trumpistani claims of "exoneration", and so on.

The investigation into the investigators really got into full swing in late 2017 and early 2018, with the dud known as the Nunes memo. Now we have dud number two being spun to death. And next we have what is clearly a purely political exercise in the Durham investigation. And the timing of the conclusions - an attempt at a 2020 election bomb - will really prove that. At least that's my expectation.

When it comes to witch hunts, Trumpistan has the market cornered. Of course. It is a fantasy kingdom built on demagoguery and scapegoating. With witch hunts and hoaxes, he who smelt it dealt it, in the end.
